"After my first 6 weeks I saw my before and after photos. What an enormous sense of accomplishment! I looked... great! And I FELT amazing. I felt like me again, not as grumpy, not as impatient, but I felt my passion and zest for life filling my heart cup again!" For the full interview check out link in our bio ❤
KABOOM. TRUTH! #Repost@squat_university (@get_repost )
We live in a society that feeds on quick fixes. Unfortunately this has also become a way of treating pain by some in our medical community who we are told to look up to and trust with the health of our body.🥊
There is a reason you developed pain. It didn’t just appear out of thin air. You can almost always trace the cause of your pain back to one thing: poor movement.🥊 When we move poorly (either when attempting a 400 lb squat, performing 30 deadlifts in a WOD or even putting clothes away after they’re washed and dried) our body sustains small amounts of trauma that eventually leads to a breakdown & injury.❌
When we attempt to treat pain by only addressing the symptoms (which is what is happening when you are given a cortisone shot or use medications/topical gels and creams) you will only find short term relief and your pain will likely return. Maybe not tomorrow, a few weeks or months from now - but it will come back because you never addressed WHY the problem started in the first place.🥊
There’s nothing wrong with the use of cortisone or other medications, & in some cases they can be very helpful. BUT know that these drugs alone are nothing more than a piece of tape covering a real problem.❌
If you have pain, take it upon yourself to find the cause. If you can’t fix it on your own, go see a physical therapist or other medical practitioner that will treat the underlying issues.
February is the time many people give up their new year resolutions.
I’m here to remind you:
1. Anything is possible
2. You CAN do it
2. With discipline and good habits, the sky is the limit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t give up!
Couscous, cod, vegetables (carrots, parsley, red pepper, tomato sauce, onion, garlic) 👩🏻🍳
I’ve got a few tips on how to read food labels as it’s important to know what we eat not necessarily being on restricted diet or counting calories but simply being aware of what we put in the mouth and making healthier food choices.
1️⃣ Difference between ‘Use by date’ and ‘Best before’
‘Use by’ date appears on products which go off quickly such as: fish, meat, ready prepared salads. It means the food cannot be consumed after the date as it’s not safe. Even if it looks/smells fine eating the product puts your health at risk. Also it’s important to follow any instructions about storage and those such as ‘eat within 3 days’.
‘Best before’ dates are about quality of the product, not safety. It means the food might lose the smell and taste after the date but won’t be harmful. Be careful with eggs though!
2️⃣Some manufacturers use the ‘traffic light’ symbols to inform consumers whether the amount of fat, saturated fat, sugar or salt is:
🚦Low- green, Neither low nor high- amber, high- red🚦
However this information is not required so if you cannot see the colours on the front of pack here is the guideline from NHS:
High: more than 17.5g of fat per 100g
Low: 3g of fat or less per 100g
High: more than 5g of saturated fat per 100g
Low: 1.5g of saturated fat or less per 100g
High: more than 22.5g of total sugars per 100g
Low: 5g of total sugars or less per 100g
High: more than 1.5g of salt per 100g (or 0.6g sodium)
Low: 0.3g of salt or less per 100g (or 0.1g sodium)
Eat more green, avoid reds.
3️⃣Ingredients are listed in descending order
4️⃣’No added sugar’ doesn’t mean the food has a low sugar content. It refers to no sugar being added as an ingredient but it might contain fruits or milk with naturally occurring sugar.
5️⃣For product to be labelled as ‘light’ it must be reduced in calories/fat (or both) by 30% from the standard version of the same product. But be careful! Because the ‘light’ version of product from one brand can still turn out to be higher in calories/fat than other brand
Putting in the work consistently day in day out.
