While not all imports have this sort of corrosion, a high percentage does. Particularly UK and Hong Kong cars. Always be weary and get cars inspected before purchase. This one is in for a bit of gearbox work and even getting the gearbox out took twice as long because of the rusted in nuts and bolts. Some rust so bad that there is nothing left of the heads. Not only that but incompetence really gets to me when you find out that the rear seal was not installed and just a glob of silastic was in its place, yep that’s rust on the rear bearing. BTW those seals are cheap and readily available.
