Yesterday was my first time going to the gym after 8 months not being able to work out! For those who don’t know, I tore my hip joint last year. For someone who worked out 4-5 day a week to doing nothing was really hard. After a few weeks of my injury, I was only able to do long walks/hikes as my exercise. But even with that, I had to be careful. I had a hard time because one of my passions was taken away from me all of a sudden. Now that I am back at the gym- it’s a big deal. I cannot do a lot of things at the moment, but I’m just excited to be back. It’s the little things, right? I’m trying to not complain about things I cannot do and instead do my best with what I am able to do! Yesterday my husband and I did yoga together. I just walked out with a thankful heart. There is always something to be grateful for. ♥️ also I don’t want to forget about the creamy dreamy GOODNESS. It’s a mint chocolate chip smoothie! .
You’ll need 1 1/2 C of @malkorganics unsweetened almond milk, 1/3 C of raw cashews, a handful of mixed greens, 1/4 C of mint leaves, @nuzest_usa vanilla protein, 1 C of frozen cauliflower, and cacao nibs. Inspired by @leefromamerica 💕 #_afreshpurefood
Dial in your Single Leg Deadlift pattern using the foam roller and you’ll unlock access to many useful, more advanced exercises later like these Combo Heavy DB Reverse Lunge + SLDL.
Single Leg Deadlifts are often tough to coach up. Hip position, knee position, low back position, so many working factors to dial in all while trying to balance on one leg. It can turn into quite a circus. But once the athletes gets a good feel for what it's like to sit his hips back while maintaining a locked in core(the roller allows a better feel), we can add weight and get to work on one of the best exercises around for speed and injury prevention.
They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but - just look at this beauty! I have been fascinated by this magical book by @gabyherstik , published by @penguinplatform . I’ve found the chapters on Herbs That Heal and Moon Magick particularly captivating. How amazing to feel so connected to nature and in tune with your body. My mum and I have always considered ourselves ‘white witches’ 🙊 and love learning of natural herbal remedies, reading chakras and harnessing the energy of the moon. I love how positive this book is and how uplifted it leaves you feeling. Here’s a snippet to give you a flavour: “We’re waking up, and with our eyes to the moon we recall the eternal truth. You are a witch. You are made of magick. It’s time to remember... After all, empowered women run the world (and the ones that do are probably witches).” 🌙
P.S. Here’s a brief description of witchcraft for those that are unfamiliar: “Witchraft is a Nature-based path that worships the Earth as the ultimate Mother, healer and Goddess.” It teaches respect towards nature and opens your eyes to the beauty of the world. 🌿#HowToBeAModernWitch#WhatImReading#WitchesOfInstagram#Ad

Heard yesterday was int. chest day. I can’t keep up with these dates anymore man, like who declares them anyway?
But the real question is, why bench with chains? Aside from building strength, speed, and explosiveness, it improves your biomechanics. With most resistance movements, the motion is most difficult halfway through the repetition when your joints are flexed. ie; when benching, the weight is hardest to lift at the point when the bar touches your chest.
This is mostly a result of an engineering concept known as "mechanical advantage", but the basic principle is that your muscles work hardest at the bottom of the rep, and they experience less stress toward the beginning and end of the motion. This doesn’t just apply to benching, but squat and deadlifts as well.
So adding chains to a barbell is a way to make your muscles exert more effort all the way through the repetition by increasing the resistance toward the top of the motion.
I hit 12 sets of 3, with <60 sec rest in between sets, followed by close grip bench with just the chains and bar.
Train smarter, then harder. #heavyhitters
Age doesn’t mean a darn thing when it comes to running! Proper training is everything!! April of 2016, I started training for Princeton half marathon without knowing anything about running and training for long distance race. After the race in November 2016, I was amazed about my potential 😜so I signed up for NJ marathon 2017. I totally underestimated the marathon distance and injured myself after the race. The best decision I have made about training was to hire @mckirdytrained . My coach @jschip177 put together a weekly plan to accommodate my work/life schedule. Joe puts my health and safety first but also pushes my limits so I can reach my potential. I told him my 2018 goal is to break two hours for a half marathon and we did it with 8+mins PR this past Sunday - the perfect execution of a winning plan! 🙌I know everyone’s running goal is different. Someone likes to run as far as they can, some likes to do a tri... For me it’s all about improving my time! I’m a number’s girl and am very goal oriented. That is why faster pace drives me. Let’s see how far and how fast I can push myself! I need to think about my next goal!! Any suggestions friends???🙌🏃🏽♀️💪#transformationtuesday#nevergiveup#pushyourlimits

Embarrassed to admit, but it’s the first time in my life I looked at a picture and said “wow I have biceps” still small, yes, but they look better than ever! Baby steps! これを書いて恥ずかしいけど、人生のはじめて写真を見る時「すごい二頭筋ある」考えた。まだ小さいけど、今までこれは二頭筋のベスト調子です！小さいステップですね! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
