This week’s Game Brain from traineffective.com features Stephen Corns, 1st team analyst at Stoke City 🧠⠀
In today’s video we are going to be taking a look at Manchester City and how they use and create overload situations during games to create goal-scoring opportunities 🤩⠀
⚽️Creating overloads is a great way to create goal-scoring opportunities.⠀
⚽️Difficult for the opposition to defend against as your team has an extra man to be able to exploit the opposition whether it’s a 2v1, 3v2, 4v3 or as far away as 10v11 with the opposition having a man sent off overloads can happen all across the pitch.⠀
⚽️The key is to identify weak areas of the opposition & try to overload in those areas. For e.g. If your opponents winger isn’t particularly good at getting back to defend then this enables your team to create a 2c1 against the full back on that side of the pitch.⠀
⚽️So as an attacking player it’s important to try to identify where you can move to, to help create an overload against the opposition.⠀
Mousa Dembele says there is “no chance” of him pursuing a career in football when he hangs up his boots.😟
Our Belgium international has been an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Spurs, making 23 Premier League appearances already this season and even though he has a number of years at the top level ahead of him, when he does finish playing, he has no intention of remaining in the game.
“No chance. You won’t see me back in football anytime soon,”: Dembele told Sport/Foot. “I’m not excluding it 100 percent, but even at 18 I was already saying that I wouldn’t stay in the business when my career ended. I still say it.
He added: “Not as manager, not on television or in any other role. But you never know. Maybe I’ll change my mind in three to four years’ time.”
Spurs will also be looking to extend his contract which runs out in 2019, after his dazzling performances this season, which will see him earning just over £100,000 in wages. 😊
