STAFF SERIES: KIRSTIN💗
Kirstin is our Family Pastor at Awakening. Which means she wears over a hundred different hats while being a total boss 👊🏼😉
She was born and raised in the western Cape in South Africa (it’s incredibly beautiful) and moved here with her husband, Cornel, in 2000. The initial plan was to return after two years, but God had other plans!
Kirstin obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in oenology and viticulture in South Africa and made wine for many years both in S.A. and in Livermore. She has been pursuing the Lord since college and has always been involved in ministry in some way.
By God’s nudging ( well, more like a push) she got involved in kids and family ministry. She has a passion to help kids connect very personally and intimately with God and to help unlock all the treasures that God has put inside of them.
She says “ It’s kinda like discovering the potential treasure that is locked up in a grape!”
She believes our kids are world changers, and that they just need to be equipped and encouraged to go after all God has for them – not when they are older, but right now where they are at! There is no Junior Holy Spirit!
What a woman!! Show her some love, friends!❤️❤️

Prayer is one of the traditional practices during Lent. So one of the things you can do during Lent is learn a new prayer. While I like just sitting and listening or doing something a little less structured I don't always do what I like to call the "traditional three" - the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. Here are some of my other favorites. #Catholic#prayer#Lent
Some days begin a bit tougher than others. Then, after rushing to get out the door WITH two kids to get to an OB apt on time (skidding on ice along the way)you find out your given rescheduled time (that they gave you only yesterday) is nowhere in the books. Then, on top of it all, you find out school is cancelled after you worked hard to get your son ready before you left. I started wondering if today was all a practical joke. I swear, that’s the kind of thing that would normally make me lose my mind, but after some deep breathing, I found myself at peace quicker than I ever would’ve been before. Waking up with Scripture has done wonders to help calm my spirit. These last few weeks I’ve felt so much anxiety about getting stuff done and ready for the baby (like NOW) when I still have over 7 weeks left, and today as a bunch of small things changed beyond my control, I realized that it is all honestly beyond me. True peace in circumstances like these comes from remembering that God is in control and not me, and through it all I belong to him. All the worries, anxieties, frustrations and interruptions of the day have an easy place to fall when I entrust them to him. Immerse yourself in Scripture, my friends. It will change your heart, mind, and soul by tuning your heart according to his will. His words are a comfort in times of trouble, and his love is ever abiding. The words from Joel in today’s mass encourage us, especially in this Lenten season, to return to God. Whether through the sacraments, penance, or our interior life, He’s calling to you. “Even now, says the Lord,
Return to me with your whole heart
For I am gracious and merciful.” #cfm#celebratingourfaith
My 81 yr old mother is a #Catholic and has always been a great supporter of #billygraham. She called him a "true man of #God." I took her to two of his #crusades back in the day and we both left changed. My mama lives on the #WestCoast and I don't even know if she's aware that he's passed, she will be de reply saddened. I know there was great rejoicing and singing in heaven when he finally came home. RIP sir, you will be missed. 💜🇺🇸💜🇺🇸
My illustration for this week’s issue of Angelus Magazine, the publication of the Archdiocese of LA. The cover story is a review of the book, “The History of the Church in 100 Objects,” so they wanted the cover to feature the objects from the book compiled into a stained glass window. Very quick turnaround, but I think the final outcome looks alright.#church#catholic#christian#illustration#art#la#california#stainedglass

#evangeliodehoy#evangelio#catolico#catholic#dios#god#biblia

Heavenly Father, free me from excessive fear and anxiety. Give me the courage to risk when necessary, knowing you will be my comfort and support, even if I fail.
St. Vincent de Paul, pray for us!
Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal appeared to St. Catherine Labouré when she was in the novitiate of the Daughters of Charity, a religious order founded by St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
We have a challenge this morning for you friends: can you completely disconnect from the internet and social media today? Or if you can’t do it completely, how can your clicks lead you closer to God? How can you use technology to live out your vocation, and not fall prey to comparison and envy?
Don’t be shy! You’re amongst friends here. We’d love to hear your thoughts below, on the blog (link in profile), or in the Above All Facebook group. ---#takeupandread#aboveall
