The ashes remind us from whence we came and where we will return. It's a mark, not of holiness, but a reminder that we are sinners and need to repent. Lent helps us mortify the body because what we do with the body effects the soul. Deny the flesh and we strengthen the spirit. If the soul sins, the body will pay too. Our body will either share the bliss of Heaven with our soul or it will suffer eternal torment in hell. Let's approach lent as if it will be our last. Commit to meditating just 5 minutes a day on the passion of our Lord and try to make it to at least one weekday mass as well as stations of the cross (my fav Lenten devotion). #lent#ashwednesday#ashes#devotion#mass#grace#prayer#pray#bible#catholic#catholicism#christian#christianity
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. The ashes imposed on us remind us that we are dust and to dust we shall return. The traditional discipline of Lent consists of constant prayer and reading of God's word, fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, abstinence from meat on Fridays, and works of mercy especially to those who have less in life.

Remember that we are dust and into dust we shall return #ashwednesday #
1.) You're dust.
2.) You'll return to dust.
3.) I posted a less edited version of this photo last Wednesday on my other account, @j_p_morris .
4.) I love the symbolism of the edit and probably won't stop posting it on #AshWednesday for at least a few more years to come.
5.) Happy #WednesdayAfterAshWednesday!
I am now almost entirely happy with my playing on Bach’s Chorale “Herzlich tut mich verlangen” BWV 727; the tune for the inestimable hymn, “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded”. This will be my prelude for tomorrow night’s Ash Wednesday service at my parish.
Tomorrow, the 14th day in February 2018.. .
Many reasons for people to live that day.
Preparing to celebrate the first day of the lunar calendar, begin the Lent with the ash on the forehead, or share some happiness with love.
Or even just pass the day as usual. Try to find at least a blessing a day.
That's all up to you.
Live your life, not others.
Peace on earth, peace on Instagram.
