Having studied art and art history for most of my life, I'm well acquainted with the experience of flipping through a monograph which alters my perception of the world around me...thinking back, though, I've never encountered one that shifted my understanding of my own self. Thank you, Christian (@1924house ), for creating a work so beautifully profound and thoughtful...I may never meet you, but know that your book has found, in me, a kindred spirit. #forthgoestheroad#1924us
Sitting down to my desk after a long day yesterday... it’s time to crack these sore knuckles and get to it. Even when we’re a bit overwhelmed, stressed, bored or running low in the tank, there’s always good news. It’s the little things in life we look forward to.
This original WW2 paper will make its way to our shop soon enough, for now, enjoy. #1924us#work#go#explore#life#news#paper#design#branding#antique#travel#life#hands
This month has been filled with what seems like endless amounts of work and some struggles. I think I’ve finally got a footing in this change of work and sleep schedule, but I know there are more challenges to come. I take these moments one day at a time and remember to always look at the good that has happened this year and realize how lucky I am to be in the position that I’m in. All the hard work is worth it and I hope to learn more from all of the hurdles I’ll be jumping over as I move forward with this year
this pizza tho 😍👅🍕
wandering around the city with my friends during these past few days has been such a lovely time. i’ve passed by hundreds and hundreds of strangers with unique expressions of fashion, hairstyles, quirks, ethnicities, beliefs, ambitions, and life stories. everything about NYC fascinates me...how each individual is drastically different from the other, yet we possess the capability of bonding in the inescapable emotions, thoughts, and curiosities of everyday life. each human has an innate desire to love and to be loved, to admire someone and to be appreciated, to impact the community and world around them by making their voice known, and to be something MORE. walking around and exploring the city has revealed to me that these longings and pursuits dig much deeper than the ethnic, political, and religious diversity that sits at the mere surface of our lives.
In the late afternoon, after returning from a dusk kayaking trip in the Icelandic fjord, @alexstrohl , @benjaminhardman and myself were cold and ready for a piping-hot meal. We enjoyed one thanks to new friends, and set out to sail the next morning on this old wooden boat. Due to the wind, high waves and biting rain, the conditions didn’t suit us - though we wouldn’t have minded much, our captain urged against it. So it wasn’t until after I left the following day that Benjamin secured this shot for me as they went from one side to the next.
There’s this sort of quiet and shamed laughter we have today for people who explore for the sake of photos, but I had never seen more drive just to be in a place between Ben and Alex. Always wanting to see just what was beyond them, it’s a trait not many have and I think it’s admirable, even in a timeless sense.
There is no clock on what you can do in life, just on how long you got before you can’t anymore.
If you’ve been wondering when to go out, I urge you to do so now. We talk lightly or metaphorically or even passionately about dying, our fear of it or lackthereof... but it is real, it is for all of us and it gives life this beautiful importance. Do not take it for granted, live the life where you are happy in your heart in every true sense of that meaning. Do not settle. Do not resort to petty substitutes. Don’t convince yourself. Honest happiness is not rare. #1924us#go#morning#explore#travel#adventure#photography#iceland#places#hope#home#life#ocean#cold#friends#family
i was interviewed a couple weeks ago about leaving 1924us and what it meant to start over in a new way, we watched the first draft of it a couple nights ago and were so grateful to see the changes that have taken place not only in my life, but at 1924 as well.
So I thought I’d share and reminisce a bit the old school style of the prints and edits we used to do on photographs like this one from Iceland.
I’m curious, would you be interested in these as prints or as wallpapers for your phone/computers?
Good morning everyone and happy Monday!
